Below you\u2019ll find a thorough step-by-step calibration guide for any type of Mechatronics axle load sensors: Eurosens DDS, DPS or DSS.<br \/>\nLet\u2019s take a semitrailer truck with air spring suspension as an example. To calibrate the sensors, truck scales are a must: either platform scales or axial weighing pads. The same is true for the semitrailer. Thus, they have the same type and number of axle load sensors installed: one <a href=\"https:\/\/eurosenstelematics.com\/en\/home-page\/products\/onboard-weighing-systems\/eurosens-dps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eurosens DPS<\/a> axle load sensor on each suspension circuit for a truck (two sensors in total), and two Eurosens DPS for a semitrailer \u2013 one on each suspension circuit. To begin with, let\u2019s measure the actual axle load on each axle.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Drive the truck front axle on the scales and measure the actual axle load on the front axle <strong>N1<\/strong> (kg). Further, we need to measure the actual axle load of the truck rear axle. The axle is paired and one axle can\u2019t be put on scales, so we\u2019ll measure the total load N2 (kg) of the paired axle. Also, we\u2019ll assume that the individual load of each of the paired axle is equal. Record the output value of the left loop sensor <strong>Sens2L<\/strong> and the right loop sensor <strong>Sens2R<\/strong> (they will differ slightly from the first measurement data). Measure the total axle load <strong>N3<\/strong> (kg) by placing the axle on the platform scales. Here, the individual loads can not be measured too. If possible, add more calibration points to increase the accuracy of sensor readings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The calibration table is programmed either by the sensor itself or on the server side (for example, in sensor properties in Wialon). The server-side calibration can be done remotely, it does not require a direct wired connection to the sensor.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>Just like for air suspension, when using DSS load cells we need at least one more point in the calibration tables of all created sensors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>The calibration table is programmed either by the sensor itself or on the server side (for example, in sensor properties in Wialon). This means it can be done remotely. The output values of the sensors <strong>(Sens)<\/strong> are visible in the monitoring system, all that is required for calibration is to measure the actual axle loads <strong>N<\/strong> using scales as shown above. In this way, the vehicle can be calibrated in the normal course of business when transporting various loads.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>The sensor-side calibration is possible if the axle load sensors are connected to an on-board display, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/eurosenstelematics.com\/en\/home-page\/products\/onboard-displays\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eurosens Display CAN<\/a>. The display will calculate axle loads values in tons directly onboard.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>To perform the calibration onboard:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Measure the axle loads several times using the truck scales. You can fill in the table partly, saving the intermediate results to the sensor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Calibration tips for using weighing scales with a long platform.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Platform scales with a long platform to weigh the entre road-train are a bit more difficult to deal with.
